Changing the name from POGO to IGL, old wine in new bottles, the gaming industry cannot be abolished!
The government is finally phasing out Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators and turning them into what are called IGLs, but I'm afraid it's the same dog wearing different collars.
There have been calls for a complete halt to POGO operations, but to no avail, both the previous and current governments seem to have a soft spot for POGOs and have rejected calls for a total ban on offshore gaming. This is sad because the rejection cannot be due to the revenue contributed by POGOs, all accounts indicate that POGOs are not paying the proper taxes and the government cannot force these companies to pay more taxes. What else can I say!
