Security researchers have discovered a new surveillance tool, which they claim has been used by Chinese law enforcement agencies to collect sensitive information from Android devices in China. Many police stations across mainland China are using this spy software to gather "large amounts" of data from mobile devices. This information includes call logs, contacts, GPS coordinates, bookmarks, and messages from third-party apps such as Telegram and WhatsApp. According to research shared by Lookout and TechCrunch, EagleMsgSpy can also initiate screen recording on smartphones and capture audio recordings during use. It has been found on Android devices and was developed in 2017!
