The Russian Federal Security Service yesterday raided a call center that had defrauded 100,000 people across 50 countries, including the EU.
The Federal Security Service stated that these call centers were part of an international organized crime group, which used investment trading as a front to conduct large-scale fraud against citizens of the EU, UK, Canada, Brazil, India, Japan, and other countries.
The illegal activities of this group generated revenues of up to $1 million per day.
It is reported that one of the major shareholders behind this operation is a former Georgian Defense Minister, who is currently believed to be hiding in London.
The Federal Security Service has arrested 11 managers and a large number of employees, including a Ukrainian citizen of Israeli descent, who was one of the company's leaders.
Yesterday, Russia raided a scam operation, and the head of the operation was arrested.
