I just watched the third episode of the second season of "Squid Game," where the Philippines was mentioned in a negative light. Do all Koreans think of the Philippines as a capital of crime? Moreover, many Korean dramas portray the Philippines as a haven for criminals, where all the villains escape to or hide. Now, it feels like the Philippines has become the "Mexico" of the Korean entertainment industry, where any plot related to crime inevitably involves the Philippines.
It's hard to blame them, especially after the incident involving a Filipino police officer who was involved in the kidnapping and murder of a Korean. It's no wonder they have such an idea. It somewhat reflects reality too. Corruption in the Philippines is getting worse every year, and it's unclear when it will end.
From being called "brown Americans" to "the Mexicans of Asia," with issues of drugs, corruption, and crime...
Unfortunately, the Philippines now somewhat resembles the Mexico of Asia. It's no wonder that criminals from other countries love to flee to the Philippines, possibly because it's easier to hide there, and the language barrier is not a significant issue.
Do you agree that the Philippines is the "Mexico" of Asia?

You underestimated Mexico, or overestimated the Philippines.

Is this all Mexico has to offer?
