I heard about a ridiculous incident from a friend who was asked to pay 71k after accidentally hitting a dog. It seems that as the year ends, people are finding ways to scam others for money.
My friend accidentally hit a Shih Tzu in a residential area yesterday. While driving around a corner, the dog suddenly ran out and he couldn't see it in time, resulting in the accident. After the collision, my friend immediately suggested taking the dog to the nearest pet hospital for treatment, but the dog's owner refused, claiming the dog wouldn't survive and demanded compensation instead. Yes, you heard right, 71k.
Shocked by the amount, my friend was puzzled as a Shih Tzu usually costs around 5,500, and even considering medical expenses and other related losses, a reasonable compensation would not usually exceed ₱20,000. However, the owner demanded 71k and even provided a detailed list of expenses incurred on the dog, including vaccinations, dog food, snacks, etc., totaling over ₱50,000.
The detailed calculations seemed premeditated. The more my friend and I thought about it, the more we felt something was off, suspecting it might not have been an accident but a setup. What should one do in such situations?

Life is priceless.

Are dogs' lives not lives?

Aren't you used to them yet?

"Can't raise them to be familiar"

Dogs without leashes cannot walk on the Second Ring Road.

Didn't leash the dog and still think you're right? Essentially, they should compensate you for the car repair costs.
There's no way around it; it's clearly a scam for money.
