Police Robbery! Four Philippine officers suspected of robbing a Korean have been arrested.

Recently, the Angeles City Police Office (ACPO) and the Mecawayan City Police Station (MCPS) in Pampanga Province arrested four suspects involved in a robbery, who are notably active-duty police officers. They are accused of robbing Korean nationals in Angeles City on December 31, 2024.

According to Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr., the Angeles and Mecawayan city police forces arrested these four individuals after further investigation and reviewing surveillance footage from the vicinity of the incident.

ACPO Station 4 confirmed that "individuals were roaming our area and engaging in criminal activities such as robbery," stated Marlon C. Ventus, the Chief of Police. He noted that the four suspects were not residents of Angeles City. Ventus mentioned that the Mecawayan Police Station had arrested the four on December 28, 2024, for violations of RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and RA 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The suspects were apprehended on El Camino Road in Barangay Perez, Mecawayan, Bulacan Province.

The suspects have been identified as Police Officer Reineil Basilio Panuelos, a 34-year-old AWOL member of the PNP residing in Caloocan City; Police Corporal Jayson Medallada Benitez, a 30-year-old resident of Caloocan City; Police Sergeant Mark Raian Vicente Dugay, a 37-year-old resident of Caloocan City; and Officer Noriel Macaraeg Lucena, 32, also a resident of Caloocan City.

Chief Ventus stated that the four suspects are currently detained at the Mecawayan Police Station. The Office of the Prosecutor in Mecawayan City has formally charged the suspects, and the Angeles police have coordinated with their Mecawayan counterparts, confirming the identities of the suspects through surveillance footage obtained from the scene in Angeles City.
