My younger brother is currently studying Computer Science on the West Coast of the United States and is interested in software development for the gambling industry. However, he has found that job postings in this industry are not as readily available as they are in typical tech companies. After searching with keywords, most of what he found were mentions of a few major companies in the news, but their official websites did not have clear internship or full-time job postings.
His current plan is to check the member company list at the American Gambling Association and then contact them one by one to see if there are any opportunities. However, he would still like to ask for advice from those with relevant experience. In the U.S., if one wants to enter the gambling industry as a software engineer, are there more direct ways to do so? For example, which companies are known to hire frequently, or are there better job search strategies? Thank you!

I want to enter the U.S. gambling industry as a software engineer, what are the ways in?

A bunch on LinkedIn
Generally, their official website has a career section. Go check it out and apply via EMAIL.

Thank you
I feel that the threshold over there is very high, and it's difficult without experience, just pure logical analysis.
I feel they are not very lacking.

North America is essentially dominated by IGT, Scientific Games, and Playtech; consider visiting these companies.

Should I apply directly on the official website?

Nowadays, a bunch of sports book companies are emerging, there should be quite a few job vacancies.

FANDUEL

Draftkings in Boston, hiring C#
Actually, you can take a look at places like Malta, the UK, and Gibraltar where gambling is legal. There are many iGaming companies there, and the hiring threshold is lower than in the US, which allows for later moving back to the US.
I've never seen someone actively wanting to get involved in gambling, impressive.

I like doing numerical calculations.

Awesome!

If you don't have experience in the gambling industry, it's unlikely that a domestic company in the United States will directly give you an offer.

Can interns not do it either?

The recruitment in the gambling industry relies heavily on internal referrals, especially for software development positions, which are not visible externally and depend on networking.

I suggest you find a recruiter on LinkedIn.

You need to look at which state, New Jersey, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Michigan, these places have the most active gambling, and there are also the most related companies, like BetMGM, DraftKings, FanDuel all have legal sports betting business, check out their Tech department.

Thank you
