Cambodian police cracked down on a Chinese kidnapping gang, successfully rescued a Chinese woman, and arrested two suspects.

On January 26, Cambodian police successfully cracked a kidnapping and extortion case involving a Chinese criminal gang, rescuing a Chinese female victim and arresting two Chinese suspects.

According to the police report, on January 13, a 37-year-old Vietnamese woman named Ho Thi Luong was kidnapped by unidentified Chinese suspects in a hotel in the Takhmao subdivision of Sen Sok district, Phnom Penh, and was forcibly stuffed into a suitcase to extort ransom.

After an in-depth investigation, the police finally located the suspects' hideout and launched a raid at 17:30 on January 26 in a residential area of Langka district, Phnom Penh. During the operation, the police successfully rescued a 40-year-old Chinese victim, Zhao Kangli (transliteration), and arrested two Chinese suspects on the spot:

Jiao Youke (transliteration), 27 years old

Zheng Naiwen (transliteration), 37 years old

The police stated that the criminal gang consisted of 3 members, specifically targeting Chinese and Vietnamese women for kidnapping. The modus operandi involved stuffing the victims into suitcases and then extorting ransom. To date, the gang has committed 6 such crimes.

Currently, the two suspects have been handed over to the prosecutor at the Phnom Penh Municipal Court, and the police are pursuing the third fugitive suspect.

The police urge all major hotels and inns to be vigilant and to immediately report to the police if they notice suspicious individuals moving unusually large suitcases, to prevent similar crimes from occurring.
