Thailand's Deputy Prime Minister: Cut off Myanmar's electricity for six months! The Myanmar military must eliminate telecom fraud gangs.

On February 7th, Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Prawit responded to the Myanmar government's recent decision to block the Daikiri-Mesai port. He stated that this was not a direct retaliation against Thailand's power cut measures, as the Thai government had fully communicated with Myanmar before taking action.

Currently, the Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridge No. 1 port is still open, but Thailand has implemented stricter restrictions on the cross-border transportation of certain goods.

Regarding the power cut measures, Thailand plans to initially cut power for six months, focusing on observing the execution in the first three months before deciding whether to adjust.

Prawit emphasized that Thailand's core goal is to completely eradicate telecom fraud gangs in Myanmar. If the Myanmar military does not take effective action, Thailand will continue to apply pressure and will not easily restore power supply.

Background: Thailand's stance on Myanmar's telecom fraud issue has become increasingly tough recently, especially after the Wang Xing incident had a significant impact on Thailand's tourism industry. The Thai government has significantly intensified its efforts, even willing to use power cuts as a means to force Myanmar to act.
