On February 6th, during his visit to China, Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha met with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing. Both parties agreed to jointly combat the cyber fraud troubling Southeast Asia, strengthen law enforcement cooperation, and maintain regional security.
This visit marks Prayut's first trip to China since taking office, and it also coincides with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and China.
President Xi stated that China and Thailand should deepen cooperation, build a shared destiny community, and further develop bilateral relations. He emphasized:
1. China will advance the China-Thailand railway project and strengthen regional connectivity.
2. Support the connectivity of transportation networks among China, Laos, and Thailand to promote economic cooperation.
3. Deepen cooperation in emerging fields such as the digital economy and new energy vehicles, and build stable supply and industrial chains.
This meeting signifies a further strengthening of China-Thailand relations and also signals that both governments will adopt tougher measures in combating telecommunications fraud.
