Thailand's Deputy Prime Minister: Ready to deal with the transfer of telecom fraud groups to Cambodia!

Thailand's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Prawit, revealed today that the National Security Council has convened a meeting to closely follow the latest developments in combating telecom fraud gangs.

⚠️ Current situation in Thailand:

🔹 No measures such as cutting off electricity, internet, or fuel to Cambodia have been implemented yet, but other targeted measures have been taken.

🔹 Prawit recently visited the Thai-Cambodian border, especially Sa Kaeo Province, to devise strategies to prevent fraud groups from relocating to the Poipet area in Cambodia after retreating from Myawaddy in Myanmar.

🔹 Border closure measures are being prepared, and Thai authorities plan to cut off specific communication signals to further encircle the fraud groups.

🔹 Over the next six months, Prawit will continue field inspections to ensure the implementation of measures and assess whether to adopt measures similar to those used in Myanmar.

🔍 Key focus: Can the telecom fraud groups barely survive in Cambodia?

📌 It is well known that Poipet was once a major base for telecom fraud groups. As early as 2023, Thailand and Cambodia jointly swept the area, causing many fraud gangs to flee to Myawaddy in Myanmar.

📌 Now with Myawaddy "on the brink of collapse," if the fraud gangs wish to return to Poipet, Thailand is unlikely to let them have their way.

📌 Thai authorities have begun to fully block the border + restrict signals + enforce strict control. If the fraud groups want to rebuild their base, they will face pressures no less than those in Myanmar.
