On February 18th, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense of Thailand, Major General Tanatip, stated that the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Prayut, had assigned the Secretary of the Ministry of Defense, Tesak, to meet with the Assistant Minister of the Ministry of Public Security of China, Liu Zhongyi, yesterday. They discussed coordination support for combating transnational telecommunications fraud. Thailand, Myanmar, and China have initiated talks on this issue and will report to Deputy Prime Minister Prayut on February 19th.
The Thai side stated that all suggestions would be submitted to the relevant decision-making bodies for discussion.
Additionally, the Chinese side stated that it would arrange for the repatriation of Chinese citizens from Myanmar to Thailand via chartered flights, with six flights scheduled daily, each carrying 50 repatriated Chinese citizens, and equipped with 100 police officers for security. A maximum of 300 people can be transported daily.
The first batch of 200 repatriated Chinese citizens will depart from Thailand's Mae Fah Luang Airport on February 20th, with the flight operated by China Southern Airlines.
