On February 18th, the spokesperson of the Thai Ministry of Defense, Major General Tanatip, stated that the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Prayut, assigned the Secretary of the Ministry of Defense, Tesak, to meet with the Assistant Minister of the Chinese Ministry of Public Security, Liu Zhongyi, yesterday. They discussed coordination support for combating transnational telecommunications fraud. Thailand, Myanmar, and China have initiated talks on this issue and will report to Deputy Prime Minister Prayut on February 19th.
The Thai side indicated that all suggestions would be submitted to the relevant decision-making bodies for discussion.
Additionally, the Chinese side stated that it would arrange for the repatriation of Chinese citizens from Myanmar to Thailand via chartered flights, scheduling six flights per day, each transporting 50 repatriated Chinese citizens, accompanied by 100 police officers for security. A maximum of 300 individuals can be transported daily. The first batch of 200 repatriated Chinese citizens will depart from Mae Fah Luang Airport on February 20th, with the flights operated by China Southern Airlines.
