The Malaysian Immigration Department recently launched a raid that successfully dismantled a phone scam syndicate operated by foreigners and arrested 46 suspects, seizing a large amount of scamming tools and cash valued at 100,000 Ringgit.
According to the Deputy Director of Operations for the Immigration Department, Jefri, the enforcement team from the headquarters initiated a large-scale raid at 11:30 AM yesterday, deploying 120 law enforcement officers targeting 17 mansions in an upscale area along Jalan Kuchai Lama in Kuala Lumpur.
The operation led to the arrest of 46 suspects, including:
- 14 Chinese men
- 15 Indonesian men and 4 Indonesian women
- 1 Burmese man and 2 Burmese women
- 2 Bangladeshi men
- 2 Laotian women
- 6 Thai women
Currently, the police are further investigating the masterminds behind the scam syndicate and may conduct a broader range of arrests.
