Recently, netizens have revealed that some online gambling and telecommunications fraud companies have moved to remote mountainous areas in Mondulkiri, Cambodia.
According to the whistleblower, there are currently twenty to thirty parks in the area, and expansion is still ongoing. These parks, being far from cities and hidden in location, include some "black parks" where illegal activities such as cruel methods, abuse, and forced labor are suspected.
The Cambodian officials have not yet confirmed the above statements. However, with the severe crackdowns in places like Myanmar and Poipet, the forced relocation of some gambling and scam organizations is an undeniable fact.
A Cambodian internet celebrity journalist, Peng Wanna, who has repeatedly exposed scam parks, also shared related news and commented, "There are still many in Mondulkiri Province."
A coordinator from the human rights organization ADHOC based in Mondulkiri Province, Vanny, in an interview with foreign media, stated that since the end of 2024, there has been a significant increase in the number of Chinese people in the province. He noted that these people rent buildings, hotels, and resorts, and move in batches with strict security measures arranged.
Comments in Khmer on the internet also confirm this phenomenon: "Many three-story buildings are constructed for rent locally," "Many Chinese are looking for houses to rent," "After closing one province, they move to another," "Moving from cities to the countryside, there are too many such cases"...
A netizen named Hokly So wrote in Khmer that these people have quietly arrived in Mondulkiri, and at least 20,000 people have gathered there so far.
20,000 suspected telecom fraudsters have reportedly "moved into" Mondulkiri, Cambodia.
