Thailand has recently gotten serious, cracking down on illegal labor, especially Chinese nationals, with significant actions taken, resulting in over 250 arrests.
Those arrested were not involved in gambling but were running supermarkets, Chinese restaurants, massage parlors, and e-commerce businesses, or even working on tourist visas, which is also considered illegal.
Some had registered shell companies, yet they were still exposed for one reason: "no work permit."
The key point is: now in Thailand, even the LTR (Long-Term Resident) visa does not count as a legal work permit.
If you work without declaring it or without a work permit, you're just waiting to be detained.
Particularly in Nakhon Pathom, Chiang Mai, and around Bangkok, the scrutiny is intense.
This wave has directly targeted several "Chinese-funded gray businesses + employee dormitories."
So, those who freelance should be extra cautious; even legitimate businesses are being targeted, and we need to be even more careful.
Thailand has been quite strict recently; even those without work permits will be arrested for overstaying.
