Due to the recent strengthening of border control at various land border crossings between Thailand and Cambodia by the Thai Army, some "foreigners" may turn to air travel to enter Thailand.
In this regard, Chalermchai, the director of the second division of the Thai National Immigration Bureau, revealed that the immigration bureaus at various airports in Thailand are prepared to respond to the policy directives of the Director-General of the Royal Thai Police, General Chidchawan, as well as the directives previously issued by the Director of the Immigration Bureau, Panuma, which demand strict action against groups that misuse visa exemptions for ulterior motives and pose criminal risks, especially telecommunications fraud and online gambling gangs.
Chalermchai said that these gangs might use Thailand as a laundering site for money earned from gray business activities in neighboring countries, and the closure of border checkpoints might lead criminals to turn to air channels to enter Thailand.
Therefore, the second division of the Immigration Bureau has ordered increased monitoring and interception of such high-risk foreigners at airports under its jurisdiction, especially at Suvarnabhumi Airport and Don Mueang Airport's immigration checkpoints.

Thailand's airports will conduct a comprehensive crackdown on grey market personnel.
