On July 4th, Thai police in Pattaya were informed that a man had fallen to his death from a 7-story hotel. The deceased was found lying in a pool of blood, dressed in black clothes, with severe head injuries leading to instant death, and only a pair of slippers left beside him.
Police investigation revealed that the balcony door of a room on the sixth floor was open, directly above the point of the fall, suspected to be the location from which he fell. Upon entering, police found all 16 rooms on the floor empty, with signs of heavy computer usage, indicating a rapid evacuation.
In room 1615, police found a passport belonging to a 24-year-old Chinese national named Liu Song. Residents opposite the hotel mentioned that the hotel was frequently visited by Chinese people, and some were seen leaving with backpacks a few days prior.
Police took a suspicious Chinese man from the scene for questioning, who claimed to be a tourist, admitted to staying at the hotel but denied any involvement in the death. On July 5th, police and immigration officers returned to the scene for further investigation, suspecting the hotel to be a base for a tele-fraud gang.
The hotel management stated that they had legally leased the building for two years, mainly accommodating Chinese and Indian tourists. The deceased had checked in on June 29th and was suspected of being in a state of mental confusion before jumping to his death. Regarding the tele-fraud allegations, the hotel claimed that most guests were families using computers for TikTok live streaming, and they panicked and moved out after the incident.
The police are still investigating potential involvement in human trafficking, telecommunication fraud, and other crimes, with the cause of death awaiting confirmation from the forensic report.
