On July 14th, the Deputy Mayor of Phnom Penh, Hong Suli, personally led a team, in collaboration with multiple law enforcement agencies, to raid a building on Road 128 in Sector 1 of Dui Gu District, Sangkat Boeung Kak. The operation successfully dismantled an overseas illegal gambling den involved in telecommunications fraud.
During the operation, the police arrested a total of 234 individuals, including 149 Vietnamese nationals (23 of whom are women) and 85 Cambodian nationals (17 of whom are women). It is understood that the Cambodian nationals were mostly logistical staff, including electricians, chefs, security personnel, and general workers.
Currently, the 149 Vietnamese involved are being processed according to immigration laws; meanwhile, 67 Cambodian nationals (including 12 women) and related criminal equipment have been handed over to the Phnom Penh Police Department, awaiting further investigation and legal proceedings. The building where the incident occurred has been reclaimed and taken over by the landlord.
