Last night, a sudden disturbance around the upscale condominium One Roxas Triangle (also known as the Diamond Tower) in Makati City, Philippines, drew widespread attention. After 11 PM, several plainclothes agents of the Philippine National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), wearing masks and baseball caps, quietly deployed, blocking multiple entrances and exits of the building, creating a highly tense atmosphere in the area.
"I was nearby at the time, and I didn't even dare to take a video. The NBI had checkpoints at almost every intersection, giving a feeling of 'nowhere to hide,'" a witness anonymously reported on social media.
According to observations at the scene, the operation seemed to target a unit on the 71st floor of the building and involved other high-end apartments like Milan and Knightsbridge, possibly related to a foreign-backed enterprise, though no clear connection to Chinese organizations has been found yet.
Unlike previous instances, this enforcement action was conducted without any prior notice or media forewarning, and no official report has been seen, with the real motive still under investigation.
It is noteworthy that this is not the first time the NBI has conducted nighttime raids on luxury residences or commercial premises. Recently, the agency has frequently initiated surprise inspections to combat human trafficking, online fraud, and illegal employment activities, with foreign nationals being a primary focus of these checks.
As of now, the NBI and other law enforcement units have not issued any official statements. Details of the incident are still unfolding, and we will continue to track and promptly update any further information.
