Don't believe the saying "only catching small fish"! The anti-fraud storm in Cambodia has just begun.

Recently, many believe that Cambodia's crackdown on telecom fraud is merely a symbolic elimination of "small fish and shrimp," while large scam parks remain unscathed. However, the reality is far more complex than it appears.

As of July 19, Cambodia has destroyed 52 dens and arrested 2,767 individuals, 843 of whom are Chinese nationals. This is not just about "arresting people," but a national-level, systematic, multi-departmental law enforcement operation that started in late June. Amidst diplomatic friction with Thailand, each accusing the other of being a "telecom fraud center," Cambodia clearly hopes to shed its label as a "scam-exporting country" through substantive actions.

More importantly, the large parks are not safe zones. In the past, well-known parks such as Venus, West Lake, New Mountain Top, and Chinatown have been cleared, and the so-called "protective umbrellas" are not reliable. During this operation, a park even staged a "mass escape of thousands" due to a misjudgment of the situation, exposing its internal tension and uncertainty.

On the international level, the U.S. Treasury Department has already sanctioned several high-ranking officials involved in scams, and organizations like the United Nations and Amnesty International continue to apply pressure, leaving Cambodia with no room to maneuver.

The storm continues, and the real "final phase" may have just begun. Do not be misled by claims that the cleanup is over; large parks, networks of interests, and "umbrellas" may all be affected.
