On August 4th, the Philippine National Police (PNP) issued a statement: In Parañaque City, a kidnapping case orchestrated by Chinese nationals targeting fellow Chinese was successfully cracked, drawing widespread attention from the Chinese and Filipino communities.
Four Chinese men, posing as "remittance intermediaries," lured a compatriot desperate to send money for his mother's rescue, setting up a kidnapping and demanding a ransom of 50,000 USDT (a cryptocurrency). The victim managed to alert the police while being held captive, and the police quickly located the target hotel, conducting an overnight raid that successfully rescued two illegally detained Chinese nationals and arrested four suspects on the scene, seizing handcuffs, firearms, and part of the stolen money.
According to the police, all four suspects were former POGO (Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators) workers who, after the industry's regulation, remained in the Philippines with no way out and turned to kidnapping and extortion crimes against their own countrymen.
PNP Chief Torre stated that this case highlights the potential security risks posed by illegally staying foreign nationals. The police have now initiated legal proceedings in cooperation with the Immigration Bureau and PAOCC (Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission), to trace the origins and promote the deportation of the involved individuals.

Chinese suspects set a trap to kidnap compatriots! All 4 are former POGO employees, and a shocking transformation from cyber fraud to kidnapping in Parañaque!

I heard that kidnapping was excused as currency exchange.

Can the right hand not find its own way?
What can't you do, kidnapping?
The Philippine government's governance of POGO is the real culprit.
