Last night, something happened that left me quite shaken.
I was taking an Uber to the hotel with two suitcases, and halfway there, we were stopped by three police officers. They checked my passport and other documents one by one, and even rummaged through everything in my suitcases, not sparing the hidden compartments.
What was even more strange was that the driver took us into a secluded alley before we were intercepted. I suspect this was in collusion with corrupt police: seeing a traveler with suitcases, they might have set up the situation in advance.
Although there were no issues in the end, the process was very uncomfortable. Based on some experiences my friends have had, I am increasingly convinced:
Never carry cigarettes or e-cigarettes, especially vape cartridges, as these are often used as an excuse for them to make a move.
Try to avoid taking tuk-tuks or Zip-type small transport vehicles at night, as they tend to attract attention.
If you must travel at night, it's best to choose a higher-priced, better-model car for a higher degree of safety.
Lately, it seems they have been targeting Chinese and other Asian people, often using various reasons to conduct forceful checks or even hint at extortion. Everyone must be vigilant and avoid such situations if possible.
Sri Lankan police have recently been frequently checking on Chinese people.

Because it's easy to make money from Chinese people, and they don't fight back after being exploited.
So I'm bullied everywhere.
Everywhere is dealing with Chinese people, which is normal, especially since China itself is dealing with Chinese people.
They are all various ways of thinking about making money.
There are many corrupt police officers everywhere.
Wherever the scammers go, they create chaos. Can you still blame the police?
Sri Lanka is so poor that their eyes light up when they see you.
Here it comes
All crows under the sky are equally black.
