The Philippine National Police Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNP-AKG) reported on September 8 that there has been new progress in the kidnapping case of a 14-year-old Chinese national attending an international school in Taguig City, Metro Manila, which occurred in February this year. Two suspects voluntarily surrendered to the police on September 3 and were formally arrested on the same day following the issuance of arrest warrants by the court.
The spokesperson for the Anti-Kidnapping Group, Officer Villaruz, revealed that the suspects who surrendered are 62-year-old "Tatang" and 27-year-old "Marv". The police noted that the reason for their surrender was the identification of their identities and the immense pressure they faced, making it impossible for them to continue hiding. Both are now facing charges of kidnapping for ransom and accompanying murder.
Further investigation into the case revealed that clues related to the previously arrested Wang Danyu are being verified by the police, with Wang suspected of being involved in some of the ransom flows and organizational aspects of the case. The police emphasized that the case has not been fully solved yet, with five suspects still at large and the manhunt ongoing.
The Anti-Kidnapping Group is calling on the public to provide any information that could help capture the remaining suspects and restore a safe environment for the victims and the community as soon as possible.
