The United States recently announced sanctions against four individuals and six companies in Cambodia, citing their involvement in cross-border crimes such as telecommunications fraud and money laundering. The related telecommunications fraud parks are located in Sihanoukville, Chbar Mon (Wooden Board), and Banteay Meanchey Province.
In response, Cambodian Interior Ministry spokesman Khieu Sopheak stated on September 8 that the Cambodian government has been vigorously combating cybercrime, having launched a large-scale cleanup operation before the outbreak of border conflicts with Thailand. He emphasized that both the Interior Ministry and the government level are willing to cooperate with the international community:
"We are willing to engage in bilateral, multilateral, regional, and even global cooperation to jointly prevent and combat cybercrime."
The Interior Ministry also clarified that Cambodia does not provide a "safe harbor" for telecommunications fraud groups, and the Cambodian people are also victims of fraud.
The official stance is clear: combating telecommunications fraud is not the sole responsibility of Cambodia; it requires international cooperation.

It seems that Hong Ma might not even be able to go to the United States in the future.
I died laughing, Cambodia
If the country of fraud were to cooperate, wouldn't the very foundation of the nation be lost?
