On July 3, 2024, police in Quang Nam Province, Vietnam, arrested over 20 suspects involved in illegal gambling activities related to the 2024 UEFA European Championship and Copa America. According to the police, a gambling syndicate processed transactions worth over 50 billion Vietnamese dong (approximately 1.9 million USD) in just eight days. Investigations are still ongoing.
In Vietnam, apart from state-run lotteries and a few casinos, most forms of gambling, including sports betting, are illegal.
