Canadian Football League (CFL) Commissioner Randy Ambro Randy Ambrosie expressed opposition to Bill S-269, which proposes restrictions on sports betting advertising and national guidelines to address problem gambling. In a letter to the Senate Transportation and Communications Committee, he said steps taken by the CFL and other leagues are also effective.

If passed, the bill would also ban "celebrities and athletes Endorse or promote sports betting." The bill has now passed its second reading in the Senate.

Canada will legalize individual sports betting in 2021. Currently, Ontario is the only province with regulated private industry sports betting.
