Brigadier General Jose Hidalgo Jr., chief of the Philippine Central Luzon Police Regional Office, is under investigation for illegal offshore gaming and racketeering activities in his jurisdiction. Several reports of killings have not been resolved.
During a press conference at Camp Cramb in Quezon City, Philippine National Police Chief Rommel Francisco Marbil said the responsibility of the regional director was called into question because reports of the incident were not adequately investigated. The investigation resulted in the dismissal of all personnel of the Tallac City Police Department Bamban, the Pampanga Provincial Police Chief of Pollac and the Pampanga Provincial Police Chief.
Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. has directed the PNP and local governments to work together to curb illegal gambling and scamming businesses.
