Thailand Border Patrol soldiers and police intercepted a shipment of computer equipment believed to belong to an online gambling operation from a new location.
The seizure occurred in Tak province in northwest Thailand, close to the Myanmar border. The shipment was destined for Alanya Prat in Sa Kaeo province, an area near the Cambodian border that is a known center for gambling and fraud.
According to a spokesperson, on the evening of July 14, 2024, the army’s Task Force Ratchamanu was in Tak province A truck loaded with boxes of computers, monitors, power banks and other equipment was stopped in Tha Sai Luat sub-district near Ban Wang Ta Kien Tai in Mae Sot district.
The goods were confiscated and a suspect was detained but later escaped.
Previously, a similar seizure of computers and peripheral equipment also occurred in the Mae Pa sub-district of Mae Sot District, Tak Province. According to The investigation was part of the same illegal operation and had the same destination.
