The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has issued formal warnings to two online operators for violating provisions of Section 64A(15)(2A) of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001.
The warnings were directed at Wanted Win and Richard Casino. It has been reported that these two online gambling platforms were added to ACMA's blocking list in early July for providing prohibited interactive gambling services to Australian customers and/or unlicensed interactive gambling services; or for advertising these prohibited and unlicensed services.
The service providers for Wanted Win are Dama N.V. and Strukin Ltd, while those for Richard Casino are Libergos Ltd and Hollycorn.
An example of ACMA's action against gambling advertising rules is the Kayo case, where ACMA issued remedial directions to Kayo's owner Hubbl, requiring an external audit of its technical systems and processes, including measures implemented after the violation occurred. Non-compliance could result in Hubbl facing fines of up to 626,000 Australian dollars (415,585.75 US dollars) per day from the Federal Court.
In several cases, ACMA has also blocked illegal offshore gambling websites with the help of local Australian Internet Service Providers (ISP). Since its inception, ISPs have blocked up to 1,011 illegal gambling and associated websites.
Blocked websites include Jogi Casino, Dundee Slots, Lucky Hunter, Lucky Wins, Lukki Casino, Spin Fever, Clubhouse Casino, and Winport Casino. Big Candy, Jackpoty, and John Vegas Casino are also on the list.
