Former Philippine President spokesperson Harry Roque has been placed on the immigration watch list due to alleged connections with illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO).
Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) spokesperson Winston Casio revealed this during an interview with Teleradyo on August 5.
In the interview, Casio stated: "Just now, the Department of Justice issued an immigration watch bulletin, signed by Boying Remulla, and has been forwarded to the Bureau of Immigration. We have issued watch bulletins for some individuals considered as persons of interest or potential suspects."
Harry Roque had previously denied being the lawyer for Lucky South 99. He stated that his client was the service provider Whirlwind Corporation, which at the time held a valid license from PAGCOR.
Last Monday (July 29), Roque also admitted that he was one of the founders of a company that owns a residence in Tubao, Benguet province. Recently, this residence was raided, resulting in the arrest of two foreigners believed to be connected with POGO.
Senator Risa Hontiveros, chair of the committee investigating alleged crimes involving Philippine gaming companies, disclosed that one of the arrested was fugitive Sun Liming, who was captured at the house partly owned by Roque. Sun Liming partly owns the property under Roque's name and had forged documents to impersonate Cambodian citizen Khuon Mouern.
Sun is associated with the Porac POGO center and is listed on Interpol's red notice, indicating he is an internationally wanted fugitive. This means law enforcement agencies worldwide are requested to locate and arrest Sun, to ultimately deport and prosecute him.
Roque issued a statement on the immigration watch bulletin through his Facebook communication Roque:
"I believe the immigration watch bulletin is purely harassment.
"Their only evidence is: one, I accompanied Katherine Cassandra Li Ong to rearrange debt payments; two, an unverified organizational chart which I did not participate in preparing, nor did I agree to include my name in it.
"This political witch hunt aims to silence my voice, and I expect them to intensify their efforts after my call to keep the Malacañang Palace drug-free, which was posted on Facebook and also revealed by witness Cathy Binag in a shocking revelation.
"I have no reason to leave the Philippines. I will face my accusers and answer all charges related to offshore gaming. As I have said in my program 'Spokesperson Time,' I love the Philippines, and it is my favorite country."
The immigration watch bulletin instructs immigration officers to carefully check if the persons of interest have any arrest warrants, illegal activities, or regulatory records, and to monitor their movements to prevent them from attempting to leave the Philippines.
