Yesterday (August 6) afternoon, the building at 475 Sta. Monica St, Ermita, Malate, in Santa Monica Street, Malate District, was arrested by the President of the Philippines against organized crime. During the raid, at around 7pm last night, a young Chinese employee of an illegal online gambling and fraud company on the 11th floor of the building jumped down for uncertain reasons, perhaps to escape or to commit suicide.

A person who was stuck on a steel frame and could neither go up nor down tried to jump off the building to escape.

A 16-second video circulating on social media shows that when the authorities took the online gambling practitioners downstairs to wait for them to be escorted to the detention site, about a dozen practitioners broke free from their restraints and fled. However, it is still unclear whether these people finally escaped.
