After the Labour Party was elected to govern, the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) announced the new ministerial team.
It was already known that Lisa Nandy would lead the DCMS as the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, and now the supporting staff have been confirmed.
Chris Bryant has been appointed as the Minister for Creative Industries, Arts and Tourism, Stephanie Peacock will serve as the new Minister for Sport, Media, Civil Society, and Youth, while Fiona Twycross has been confirmed as the new Minister for Gambling.
Soon after the Labour Party won the general election, Peacock was appointed as the Undersecretary of State for Culture, Sport, and Media, and it was widely expected that she would also be granted the role of Gambling Minister, a position she previously held as Shadow Minister during the Conservative government.
Although Twycross will serve as the Minister for Gambling, it should be noted that one of Peacock's areas of responsibility does include gambling (in the House of Commons), so she is likely still to have an influence on the gambling sector in the UK.
Gambling Insider commented that under Keir Starmer's new Labour government, the UK's gambling industry is entering a critical phase.
