On August 18, local time, the Philippines House of Representatives Quadrilateral Committee issued subpoenas to individuals associated with illegal Philippine offshore gaming operators (Pogos), due to their failure to attend a hearing on offshore gaming operators, illegal drug trade, and their relationship with warfare.
The committee members were shocked by the absence of key figures such as former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque’s executive assistant Alberto Rodulfo De La Serna at the hearing. De La Serna, who was found to be Roque’s administrative assistant, had documents related to Roque’s travel arrangements disclosed.
In addition to De La Serna, the committee also issued show cause orders to the following individuals: acting mayor of Danlugan Province Eraño Timbang and other officials; Thelma Laranan and Yu Cheng Can of Hongsheng Gaming Technology Co., Ltd.; founders of Baofu Real Estate Co., Guo LiShan and Cai BoXian; executives of Lucky South 99 Company and its outsourcing firms; founder of Cyclone Co., Josefina Mascarenas; initiator of Biancham Holdings and Trading Inc.; media lawyer Gerald Y. Medina of Flores Ofrin Law Office; disputed property owner in Banban area, Ruperto Cruz; president and CEO of First Bataan Marvelous Holdings Corporation, Danny Corral.
