Portugal's online gaming revenue hit a new high again in the second quarter.
The Gambling Regulation and Inspection Service (SRIJ) reported that revenue from all online verticals reached 261.8 million euros, up from 260.8 million euros in the first quarter.
This growth continues the most recent and most pronounced revenue growth trend, which began in the third quarter of 2022, when revenue was 158.2 million euros.
Since then, the figure has gradually increased, breaking the 200 million euro mark in the second quarter of 2023, reaching 205.9 million euros.
Compared to the same period last year, this means an increase of 55.9 million euros, or 27.1%.
SRIJ stated that 60.5% of the latest quarter's revenue came from games of chance, while fixed-odds sports betting accounted for the remaining 39.5%.
Fixed-odds betting generated revenue of 103.3 million euros in the second quarter, while games of chance generated 158.5 million euros.
Gambling revenue jumped from 84 million euros in the second quarter of 2023, with revenue from games of chance also increasing from 122 million euros a year ago.
