On August 24, the spokesperson for the Philippines' Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC), Winston Casio, stated that Alice Guo, the dismissed mayor of Banban town in Tarlac province, known as the "POGO Mayor," will not go to China. According to reports, Alice Guo is currently in Indonesia.
During a news forum on the 24th, Casio mentioned, "Alice Guo will not go to China because, as far as China is concerned, she is already a suspect, and she is charged in the Philippines with serious crimes related to illegal gambling."
"We know that China has very strict control over the gambling industry within its territory, so she definitely will not go to China."
"We are confident that Alice Guo and her associates are trying to enter the Golden Triangle." The Golden Triangle refers to a triangular area at the border of Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos in Southeast Asia.
Casio said, "Since the Guo family has gambling-related businesses in Cambodia, we currently believe that the Golden Triangle is the most likely place she would go."
"They are part of a large criminal organization, and the gang that the Guo family belongs to is part of the underworld in the Golden Triangle."
PAOCC officials stated that once Alice Guo arrives in the Golden Triangle, it will be difficult to arrest her.
It is reported that Alice Guo left the Philippines in July and is currently in Indonesia. Alice Guo's two associates, Sheila Leal Guo and Cassandra Li Ong, have been deported back to the Philippines.
Meanwhile, Alice Guo's lawyer, Stephen David, expressed his hope that his client could surrender earlier than expected.
