In Taichung City, a couple around 30 years old with the surname Li collaborated with several gaming operators to set up a money laundering facility in their residence in Xitun District, laundering up to 1.6 billion yuan. After a police investigation, not only were luxury cars and properties found under the couple's name, but also a wall of designer bags. Assets worth 73.2 million yuan were seized, and 10 suspects including the Lis were detained; the prosecutor has approved the arrest of Mr. Li, while Mrs. Li was released on a 2 million yuan bail. The case is soon to be prosecuted for money laundering and other charges.

According to investigations, the Lis were unemployed and ran the money laundering operation full-time, advertising it as a "high salary, easy work, no experience needed" job, recruiting young members, mostly in their early 20s. They operated in small, dispersed teams to avoid police detection and used communication software to coordinate their illegal activities, creating gaps in the investigation. It is reported that since last year, the facility laundered over 1.6 billion yuan, taking a commission of about 3.5 to 7% per transaction, mainly serving online gambling platforms like AG - 9游 and 尊龙凯时.

After thorough investigations, police launched two raids in May this year, apprehending the main suspects, the Li couple, along with other members and staff, totaling 10 individuals. The Lis not only lived in a luxury house and drove luxury cars but also owned a wall dedicated to Chanel, LV, and other designer bags. Police seized 512,000 yuan in cash, about 1.74 million yuan in cryptocurrency, 19 designer bags, a PORSCHE sedan, an ALPHARD van, four computer towers, and real estate including one building and two land properties valued at 63.88 million yuan, totaling 73.2 million yuan in seized assets.

Following the investigation, the case will be prosecuted under the Anti-Money Laundering Act, Organized Crime Prevention Act, and the Criminal Code for gambling crimes. Mr. Li has been detained with the prosecutor's approval, and Mrs. Li, being pregnant, was released on a 2 million yuan bail, with other members receiving bails ranging from 50,000 to 100,000 yuan. The case is nearing its conclusion and prosecution.
