Sheila Guo revealed in today's (27th) Senate hearing on gambling that she, Alice Guo, and Wesley Guo left the Philippines by boat together.
According to Sheila, after dinner, they took a van from a farm in Tarlac and drove for about 5 hours to a port, where they then boarded a small boat to leave the Philippines for the open sea. Eventually, they transferred to a large fishing boat to enter Malaysia.
Alice Guo (Mayor of POGO) and Wesley Guo, Sheila Guo, escape route and timeline from the Philippines
In early July, Sheila Guo (Alice's cousin) received a call asking her to rush to a farm in Bamban, Tarlac.
Sheila traveled from her home in Marilao, Bulacan to the Bamban farm, arriving in the afternoon. By then, Alice and Wesley were already waiting at the farm.
The three took a van to a port about five hours away from the farm that evening.
On a dark and windy night, they first boarded a white boat to escape to the open sea.
They then transferred to a large fishing boat and sailed for several days near Malaysia, where they switched to a blue boat.
Wesley told Sheila that they would head to Semporna.
On July 18, after reaching Malaysia, a woman helped them with documents and booked plane tickets to Singapore.
On July 21, Alice and others boarded a plane to Singapore from Kuala Lumpur.
From July 21 to mid-August, Alice and the others stayed in Singapore.
On August 18, Alice, Sheila, and a person named Wang took a ferry to Batam Island, Indonesia.
Wesley arrived at Batam Island a few days earlier. He had told Sheila in Singapore that he was bored and wanted to go out.
The four discussed returning to Singapore, and Wesley decided to return first, reportedly heading to Hong Kong, China.
On August 21, Alice left first, and since Sheila does not speak English, she was accompanied by Wang. They were intercepted by the Indonesian immigration authorities on their way to Singapore.
On August 22, they were deported back to the Philippines and temporarily detained by the National Bureau of Investigation.
Did the Guo family spend 200 million to escape the Philippines? Ms. Wang is Wesley Guo's girlfriend!
In the Senate hearing, Sheila Guo provided more detailed explanations about her background and how she escaped the Philippines.
When asked by a senator if she had prepared luggage and carried a passport, Sheila said, "I didn't prepare any luggage, and both my Philippine and Chinese passports were with Alice."
The senator then asked, "Aren't you curious about where you were going?" Sheila responded, "Alice told me she was feeling a bit down and wanted me to accompany her for a walk. I trust her very much, so I just followed her. Also, whenever I asked my sister, she would get very angry and tell me not to ask too much."
The senator jokingly asked, "So if Alice took you to hell, you would still follow her?" Sheila just smiled in response.
Sheila stated that her father claimed to be sisters with Alice, but she also admitted that this father was not her biological father. She acknowledged that the parents listed on her birth certificate were not her biological parents, and that Alice's biological mother, Lin Wen Yi, was her "aunt" (referred to as tita during the hearing).
Sheila then stated that she was born in China and was brought to the Philippines in 2001 to help with the textile business.
Philippine Senator Risa Hontiveros pointed out that Sheila's birth certificate was registered in 2005 and she obtained a Philippine passport in 2008, questioning whether Sheila knew that she had illegally obtained Philippine government documents. Sheila stated that these documents were processed by her father and given to her, and she was not aware of the details.
The senator also pointed out that there were reports that the Guo family provided 200 million pesos to facilitate their escape from the Philippines. However, Sheila stated she was unaware of this.
At the end of the hearing, Sheila stated that she was not aware of any involvement of Alice and her father in the online gambling business, as they only discussed textile and farming businesses when talking about business.
Furthermore, when asked about the relationship between Ms. Wang (Cassandra Li Ong) and the Guo family, Sheila responded, "She is Wesley's girlfriend. Therefore, the four of them had traveled to Taiwan, China as early as February this year, but I am not familiar with Ms. Wang."
