On August 28, 2024, Norman Tansingco, the Director of the Bureau of Immigration in the Philippines, disclosed to the Senate Committee on August 27 that the dismissed mayor of Bamban, Tarlac, Alice Guo, is reportedly in Jakarta, Indonesia. According to Tansingco, Guo moved from Batam to Jakarta, and this move was tracked by the Indonesian immigration authorities.
Senator Risa Hontiveros demanded that the Bureau of Immigration ensure Guo's return to the Philippines, to which Tansingco responded that the Philippines had already made an extradition request to the Indonesian authorities, which remains valid, and both parties are closely coordinating. He emphasized that since the Indonesian immigration authorities are leading the matter, the Philippines has no jurisdiction but can only provide the necessary documents and information.
Additionally, Tansingco mentioned that Guo's brother, Wesley Guo, left Batam for Hong Kong via ferry on August 20. The Philippine Bureau of Immigration has since submitted a request to the Hong Kong immigration authorities to confirm his arrival in Hong Kong.
During earlier Senate hearings, Guo's sister, Shiela Guo, confirmed that she, along with Alice Guo and Wesley Guo, left the Philippines by multiple boats, traveling through Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia. Shiela stated that she separated from Alice Guo in Indonesia.
Winston Casio, spokesperson for the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC), earlier stated that Alice Guo appears to be attempting to reach the "Golden Triangle" area of Southeast Asia. Casio noted that the Guo family has business and gambling interests in Cambodia, which might be Alice Guo's ultimate destination.
Currently, the PAOCC is working to request a Blue Notice from Interpol for Alice Guo to enhance monitoring of her.
Indonesian authorities have arrested Guo's sister, Shiela Guo, and a representative of a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO), Cassandra Li Ong, in Batam. Alice Guo faces charges related to the illegal operation of a POGO center in Bamban.
