Philippine President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. stated that he has a clear idea of who will be held accountable in the escape incident of former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo, also known as the POGO Mayor.
In a conversation with presidential palace reporters, Marcos revealed that he has discussed the matter with Justice Minister Jesus Crispin Remulla. Marcos indicated that the investigation is in its final stages, aiming to determine whether only one person is involved or if there is a criminal group. He emphasized that no one is "sacrosanct."
When asked if he was kept in the dark about Guo's whereabouts, Marcos explicitly confirmed that he indeed was. He also added that the investigation into Guo's escape is "almost complete."
According to the director of the immigration bureau, Norman Tansingco, as of August 26, Alice Guo was reported to be in Jakarta, Indonesia. Guo's sister, Shiela Guo, admitted in a Senate investigation that she, along with Alice Guo and their brother Wesley Guo, left the Philippines by taking several boats.
The news of Alice Guo leaving the Philippines on July 18 was first disclosed by Senator Risa Hontiveros. Shiela Guo was also among those ordered to be arrested by the Senate in July.
