The Dutch gambling regulator has successfully shut down a YouTube video that it said was advertising for an unlicensed operator.

Kansspelautoriteit (KSA)’s initial warning saw two Dutch influencers, who the KSA said admitted to playing on the website, blur out the images taken from the operator’s website.
But the regulator said accompanying audio which “spoke positively about the website” could still be heard.
A second and final warning was subsequently issued, and the video can now no longer be viewed, the KSA said.
“The KSA has been sending warning letters for some time to websites of regional media, among others, that advertise illegal offers,” it said.
“This type of advertising is often also aimed at vulnerable target groups, for example players who are in the Cruks deregistration register.
“The KSA often receives feedback that the media were not aware of the fact that the advertised website does not have a license for the Dutch market.
“The supervisory authority would like to point out once again that an advertiser is responsible for checking whether a gambling company that wants to advertise with them has a license. If an advertiser advertises illegal offers, they themselves run the risk of a sanction.”
