The Brazilian Institute for Responsible Gaming (IBJR) will hold a webinar next Tuesday (27), titled "From Global to Local - Onshoring as a Strategy for Betting Chain Suppliers". The live event will be held on LinkedIn and will discuss the tax impacts in the betting sector and the importance of suppliers establishing themselves in the Brazilian market.

With the new regulation and the deadline for regularization by January 2025, the Ministry of Finance has already received 113 license applications from betting houses to operate in Brazil. From this movement and the guidelines for the coming months, the entire service chain of the Brazilian market will be impacted, including marketing, payment methods, media groups, technology, sports, and entertainment - a functioning ecosystem.

The event will discuss how to navigate this scenario, taxation for offshore services, the potential for significant tax reductions through local operations, and the importance of establishing a local presence in the growing Brazilian betting market.

These points will be addressed by Rafael Marchetti Marcondes, legal director of IBJR and moderator of the webinar. In addition to the panelists: Vinicius Cesar de Carvalho Tsuda, enterprise account executive at Caf; João Rafael Gândara, partner in the tax area of Pinheiro Neto Advogados; and Sérgio Floris, managing director of Sportradar in Brazil.

For the legal director of IBJR, the webinar analyzes a topic not much discussed in the country. “Until now, the betting industry was focused on a regulated market, now they are in the process of regularization, but what about the suppliers? The service providers who will make everything happen on Brazilian territory?

The webinar proposes a careful look at the functioning of companies, how they depend on the contracting of software use licenses and services inside and outside Brazil, and that with the license applications in process, the tax cost of importing services may become a barrier”.

The invitation to follow the live on LinkedIn, which will take place this Tuesday (27) at 10 AM, can be accessed at this link.

The Brazilian Institute for Responsible Gaming (IBJR) was formed from the union of Groups bet365, Flutter, Entain, Betsson Group, Betway Group, Yolo Group, Netbet Group, KTO Group, Rei do Pitaco, Novibet, LeoVegas, Kaizen Gaming, and SkillOnNet.

The goal of IBJR is to foster debate on the regulation of this segment in Brazil, contributing information to advocate for the creation of clear rules and directions so that sports betting companies can operate legally, protecting the interests of players and civil society.

Currently, in addition to igaming and sports betting companies, IBJR includes among its members payment method companies such as Grupo OKTO, Pay4Fun, and OneKey Payments, media groups like Better Collective, the agency Clever Advertising, the sports marketing company Volta Pra Marcar, and the anti-fraud solutions company, GeoComply.
