The electronic gaming company Rei do Pitaco (RdP) and the global leader in sports technology Sportradar, have kicked off the "Sports Integrity Partner" program for state football federations across Brazil, with the signing of the cooperation agreement with the Football Federation of the Federal District (FFDF). The cooperation among all parties will ensure access to game monitoring tools that will be used in the prevention of manipulation cases.
The electronic gaming company Rei do Pitaco (RdP) is establishing cooperation agreements to donate monitoring services to state football federations. And the kickoff was given in Brasília this Tuesday (20/08) with the signing of the cooperation agreement with the Football Federation of the Federal District.
In a joint effort with the global leader in sports technology Sportradar, RdP ensures the acquisition of game monitoring tools for the prevention of result manipulation cases for selected state football federations.
The intention of donating the monitoring systems is to help the Federation act assertively in detecting fraud in games, control, and monitoring. Through the analysis of betting volume, activities occurring in the games, technological tools, and qualified personnel, they analyze statistical data related to the sports betting market with the aim of detecting suspicious activities and alerting authorities and organizations, enabling more in-depth investigations and corrective measures.
At the signing ceremony, present at the opening table were the interim executive secretary of Science, Technology, and Innovation of the Federal District, Marcus Uítalo, the undersecretary of Sports, Leisure, and Sports Spaces of the Secretariat of Sports and Leisure of the Federal District, Nivaldo Vieira Felix, and the partner of Pinheiro Neto Advogados, Vicente Coelho Araújo, as well as the legal director of Rei do Pitaco, Rafael Marcondes.
The event also featured a panel to explain the operation of the monitoring system and discuss the importance of promoting integrity actions. The moderation of the meeting was led by Fernando Vasconcelos, integrity officer of Rei do Pitaco, and included speeches by the Integrity Manager of Sportradar, Felipe Marchetti, the president of the Football Federation of the DF, Daniel Vasconcelos, and the undersecretary of Monitoring and Supervision of the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting of the Ministry of Finance, Fábio Macorin.
For the president of the Football Federation of the DF, Daniel Vasconcelos, the system will be a great ally in combating fraud in games, situations that have already been detected previously in teams from the federal capital.
“This partnership adds a lot to the football of the DF and I hope it serves as an example for other federations. We, who are committed to fairness, only have to gain, as does the fan. With a complete report like the one we will start to receive, we have inputs to, in suspicious cases, inform the authorities that investigate and judge. It is very good to know that we can count on the public machine and institutions like Rei do Pitaco in this fight for integrity”, he highlighted.
According to the undersecretary Marcus Uítalo, integrity needs to be the rule in the business and sports world.“This initiative is a watershed. We need to prove all the time that we are honest, integrous, because sport builds character, saves lives. It is important to have actions like this that separate the wheat from the chaff, so that serious companies can grow and remove from the market those that are not committed to probity. And to ensure that the passion of many Brazilians is not corrupted by illicit acts”.
How the monitoring system works
At the event of the partnership signing, the Integrity Manager of Sportradar explained that attempts to manipulate game results is a topic that has been detected and debated for years and that the Latin American market used to be a target due to low monitoring and few integrity initiatives. However, the scenario has been changing, especially in Brazil.
Marchetti detailed the operation of the monitoring system, which is based on the collection of data from sports events. “From observation, a standardization is generated. It is possible to detect if a certain bettor has changed their betting patterns according to the results obtained, cross-referencing with geographical, identification, research, and various other criteria with the help of Artificial Intelligence. We send a complete communication containing any suspicious activity within the games”.
Marchetti also clarified “that the report that is issued is already accepted as evidence by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAS/CAS) and by the Federal Public Ministry (MPF), and also has scientific proof endorsed by the University of Liverpool, in England”.
From the evidence found and reported, it is possible to forward the complaint to the Public Ministry and other authorities that handle the investigation of the cases, such as the Federal Police.
About the cooperation agreements
For the lawyer responsible for the areas of compliance and integrity of Rei do Pitaco, Fernando Vasconcelos, constant monitoring is essential to maintain the integrity of sports and ensure a fair competitive environment.
“One of the pillars of the work of RdP is to prioritize the safety of our platforms, where players form virtual teams. That is, the concern with the possibility of manipulation in the disputes goes beyond our virtual barriers and reaches the real teams, which are, in truth, the basis of our operation with electronic games”.
So far six agreements – which are valid until 2026 - have already been signed and two others are awaiting completion. According to the legal director of Rei do Pitaco, Rafael Marcondes, the intention is that the action can be expanded to other federations.
“There are sports federations that have fewer resources and even less visibility, which can become fertile ground for the manipulation of results. And the fairness of these disputes is in the interest of everyone: Rei do Pitaco, Federations, government, society… After all, it is the unpredictability of the results that brings the excitement of the game. And this is one of our working tools”.
