Panama.- Type “A” slot machines stand as the main activity reported by gambling operators in Panama, with a boost of USD 73.8m in March.
According to the latest report from the National Institute of Statistics and Census of the Comptroller General of the Republic, it was revealed that in March 2024, betting and gambling began to regain strength, with an increase of 2.5 percent compared to the same period last year. However, the sale of lottery chances and tickets experienced a decline of 12.7 percent.
In turn, the total recreational activities, which include racetracks, bingo halls, gaming tables, type “A” slot machines, sports betting rooms, and online gambling, amounted to USD 87.6m in March, compared to USD 85.5m recorded in the same month of the previous year.

This year's monthly breakdown shows figures of USD 29.7m in January, about USD 28m in February, and USD 29.8m in March, thus totaling USD 87m.
The gambling operators reported the following figures in different categories: bets on racetracks, USD 1.5m; bingo halls, USD 241 thousand; gaming tables, USD 6.5m; type “A” slot machines, USD 73.8m; sports betting rooms, USD 1.2m; and online gambling, USD 4.2m.
