Honduras.- The Special Prosecutor's Office for Consumer and Elderly Protection (FEPCAM) in coordination with the Technical Agency for Criminal Investigation (ATIC) have conducted inspections in two gambling establishments, named "Publimarketing", located in a shopping center in Tegucigalpa.
The operation was carried out in response to several complaints filed by those affected who gamble money, amounts ranging between HNL10,000 (USD400) and HNL320,000 (USD12,700), through this game associated with scams.
During the inspection, invoices, receipts, authorizations, accounting books, and materials related to gambling were seized.
The investigated games involve throwing a marble and rubber balls on a board that simulates a soccer match; the victories seem to depend on the game operators, who control the outcome.
The modus operandi of these individuals is to attract and convince their victims outside the establishment, then invite them to enter and participate in an attractive table gambling game with the promise of winning money amounts; in addition to high-end appliances, which can be plasma TVs, playstations, and laptops, among other prizes.
