The Ministry of Economy and Finance announced this through a resolution.
Panama.- The Gaming Control Board (JCJ) of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) announced the implementation of automatic approvals for pre-declarations of importation of goods related to casinos and gambling.
This measure, which comes into effect starting June 24, 2024, will be carried out through the Integrated Customs Management System (SIGA) and aims to optimize the control and management of these imports throughout the Panamanian territory, in compliance with the automation process led by the Customs Authority.
The initiative is based on Resolution No. 40 of August 28, 2003, specifically in its Chapter III, Article 17.
With the new provision, it will no longer be necessary to enter the physical pre-declarations into the SIGOB section of the JCJ. All required data must be entered into the new system in the item specifications fields.
Once the application is approved through SIGA, importers must request an appointment with the Game Room Inspection Department for the withdrawal of their goods at the corresponding customs premises, which will speed up customs processes and improve efficiency in the management of goods related to gambling and games of chance.
