The lottery vendors have already asked the newly appointed director to take measures to curb illegal gambling.
Panama.- Marcos J. Cedeño was appointed as the general director of the National Lottery of Charity (LNB), by the elected president of Panama, José Raúl Mulino, thus taking over the role previously held by Gloriela Del Río.
Cedeño has a Bachelor's degree in Administration and System Programming from Columbus University. He has also received certifications in Juniper Networks Router Configuration and Advanced Juniper Networks Routing from Dynamic WorldWide Training Consultants, Mexico City; and FT9212-02A TNMS-CORE/CDM Operation and Administration for Next Generation SDH Network (R12) Configuration (R 12) from Nokia Siemens Networks, Miami, United States.
The new director of the LNB of Panama holds certifications in CCNA – Cisco Systems from the Universidad Latina de Panama. Additionally, a certification in Voice Over IP Quintum from Quintum International of Bogotá, Colombia, among others.
In his professional career, he has held positions as Operations Manager at Majano; Operations Manager at Transporte DI-TRUCK and Noc Manager at Columbus Networks – Submarine Cable ARCOS-1.

Following the appointment of the new director, ticket sellers expressed hope that an end to the sale of clandestine tickets can be achieved and an investigation into the sale of electronic gambling games that came into effect in October 2023 can be initiated.
According to Telemetro, Fernando Gonzáles, leader of the ticket sellers, requested a thorough investigation into the new gambling games of the National Lottery of Panama. "We want to see how the clandestine sale is starting to be combated... also a thorough investigation into the introduction of the new Lotto and Pega3 games which, according to the requested financial statements, are causing losses to the institution," said the leader.
