Philippines' Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma stated on September 2nd, "The plan is still being finalized and determined. The organization of affected employees' data is expected to be completed within this week. Detailed information will be provided once everything is finalized."
Laguesma mentioned that the department has already organized data for about 20,000 employees. He said, "If the remaining internet gaming license (IGL) agencies that have not submitted their employee lists can submit the requested lists, we can complete the data organization within this week. Otherwise, we cannot complete it. However, the Labor Department will send a team to follow up with these internet gaming license agencies to obtain the lists."
During the data organization process, Laguesma noted that basic information about the employees will be asked. He said, "The purpose of the data organization is to gather personal information about the employees as well as the nature of their work and their salary levels. Based on this, the provided assistance might vary, including employment support through direct referrals or job fairs, livelihood projects, or training and skills enhancement."
Philippine President Marcos announced a total ban on POGO in his third State of the Nation Address in July and directed these agencies to cease operations in the Philippines by the end of the year.
