Korean actress Han Soo-hee's estranged mother has been accused of operating illegal gambling businesses across multiple cities in South Korea. She was arrested for running illegal gambling venues.
According to Korean television reports, Han Soo-hee's mother, identified as Shin, operated 12 gambling venues across South Korea from 2021 to the end of August 2024.
It is alleged that Shin used business operators as agents to establish venues where customers could play casino games. She has previously been fined for illegal gambling and has a record of fraud offenses.
It is believed that Shin Hye-sun has a distant relationship with her 29-year-old daughter; the actress revealed that she was raised by her grandmother after her parents divorced.
Her mother accrued debts exceeding 40 million Korean Won (29,871 USD) in her name
In a 2022 blog post, the actress stated that her mother had accrued debts exceeding 40 million Korean Won (29,871 USD) in her name, which she only realized when she turned 20.
After her mother cleared the debts, she did the same thing again, leading to the star facing lawsuits. Ultimately, the Ulsan District Court ruled in her favor, absolving her of the debts incurred due to Shin.
