Newcastle United and Italian midfielder Sandro Tonali said that during his 10-month suspension for violating gambling rules, he was comforted by being able to help other problem gamblers.
Tonali transferred from AC Milan to Newcastle United in July 2023 for £55 million. In October last year, he was suspended by the Italian Football Federation for violating regulations in Serie A. The ban was approved by FIFA and applied globally.

In an interview with the club's TV channel, Tonali said, "Especially in the first three months, I met many people with ordinary jobs, especially in Newcastle, who faced the same issues and had never talked about it before."
